My elderly-ish parents have a double glazing roof conservatory with heavy duty self supporting bars. Several panels are slipping & someone promising to come over the last 8months, has now evaporated.

local conservatory firms are “too busy” etc. Just not interested.

so I intend to investigate how to fix the problem. There are no retaining plates, just end caps which are falling off.

looking at a small triangular glass panel which is most likely to fall out, as a first attempt to push back into place.

the glass panel is difficult to push back up. The self supporting bar has a push fitted top cover which compresses the glass down to seal outer surface. My first question is: can this cover forced up (unlikely looking at a cross section) or is it best to slide it out, if possible.

Other than that, any suggestions are very welcome. For instance are silicone or ptfe sprays useful to slide the panels up. Will the larger panels need human support & effort from underneath to push them back up. Any specialist firms anyone would recommend (I see Anglia offer a service). Tools?…..

I may not be able to help, but I will ask the question so that others can!
Could you post some photos?
As the old saying goes, they're worth a thousand words! :)

You’ve experienced the conny roof phenomenon where the panels slide down over time but 3 grown men can’t push them back up again. The top cap will most likely be brittle and will break if you try and take it off. Only thing you can do is run some fairy liquid under the rubbers with a spatchula (I can’t spell spatchula) both above and beneath and then try pushing it up. Do this on the coldest Day of the year known to man if you want it to move. Good luck.
