As the topic states, I have got Small scratches/hairline crack on my vanity unit handbasin. On closer inspection it looks as though that it's just scratches. Is there any products on the market that you can buy to remove these / paint over to remove them?

Thanks.

is it plastic or china?

A related tip:
If you have a cupboard or shelf above the basin, women will like to put heavy bottles and jars of unguents in/on it. From time to time they will drop them so they fall into the basin and crack it. The best way to avoid this is to put a large mirror above the basin, and put shelves and cupboards to one side.

If you have both shelves and women, buy a large stock of replacement basins.

JohnD,
It's ceramic. What I mean is, is there a product I could paint over the scratch to 'seal' it and stop it getting worse.

PS. You're right about women - I've got a mirrored cabinet above the unit, a wife and heavy bottles..... :(

you can get a thing called a "bath rubber" that polishes out scratches. best to move that cupboard, the heavy wife or her bottles ;)

There are so-called "bath paints" that are supposed to leave a porcelain-like finish. "Joy" used to make them. They are sold for kitchen white goods and bathware. i don't think it will look very good though.

I think I have seen then on the plumbing shelves of the hardware store. I can't see them on the Screwfix site.

I have a bottle of the "Joy" "white porcelain porcelain enamel" and am pretty sure I have seen something similar in the DIY specialist paint shelves.

but it is not something I often buy.
