hi, I am having problems sourcing some down lighters, can anyone recommend any which can fit in a small void, either fire rated, CFL or LED, which are dimmable please, for a wooden building, void is approx 70mm?

Are you wanting to use them for lighting the whole room, or just for feature lighting?

reconsider the type of lighting you want to install.

Why do you think fire rated lights would help your cause? :?

the lighting is for the whole room. the reason for fire rated is to maintain the firebarrier between the lower and upper floors, i dont want to take the risk in a wooden building. is there a good alternative to downlighters to give the bright modern look?

any help is apperciated

Do you not have a staircase between lower and upper floor?

Or are all the doors downstairs self-closing firedoors?

Anyway - don't have downlighters, they are not designed to light up rooms.

There are all sorts of alternatives - click.

interesting comment. yes there is a fire door and i am not sure why you say downlighters are not for whole rooms. admitedly they are not cost effective but people like the flush fitting and the light they give is generally much better than incandesent\eco bulbs. people prefer them. The customer knows what they want just seeing if i can provide it :) 100w cieling rose just isnt what people look for now so trying to give suggestions if downlighters not possible.
