Hello all,

I want to add another stud wall between my room and my housemates to cut down the noise of his girlfriend praising god at all hours of the morning/night. This will be in addition to the current thin as paper wall.

Gonna insulate this with wickes high density insulation and board with thier soundblock plasterboard. Using 600mm centres for the uprights and noggins at 1200mm can i get away with using 50mm*50mm timber for the frame or will it fall down under the additional weight of the soundbloc style board (or indeed 2 layers of normal plasterboard).

Ta

63x38 CLS would be better - and cheaper. 600 centres would be pushing it a bit though. Add a couple of extra studs and go for 400c/s.

600 centres are a result of the insulation/noise reduction stuff being sold in 600mm widths :)
