As winston has said, you don't need a 'smart' meter for that.

I have extensive consumption monitoring of my own, but do not have a 'smart' meter. In fact, what I have is actually 'smarter' than those meters, since it gives me the ability to monitor consumption of individual circuits, or groups of circuits.

There is no off the shelf system I am aware of, to monitor gas consumption, apart from a SM.

Probably not, but I don't even have (piped) gas, let alone a 'smart' meter to monitor its consumption, so that is not an issue for me

I do have gas, so the regularly recorded every 30 minutes consumption reports, were of considerable interest to me.
