Our DI162 dishwasher has developed a problem, the machine attempts to do something beeps twice then immediately beeps again and stops. There is water in the bottom of the machine and the program lights flash indicating an E8 error. Buying a new PCB board is not cost effective, is there some kind of soft re-set I can do.

Does your machine have a half load button?

I've got 2 E8 error codes for smeg. One is for the older appliances and is a "read error". The 2nd is for newer appliances and it's a failure of the alternating valve.

Hi Sleepyhead, many thanks for your help. No, the machine does not have a half load button and we have had it for about 3 years. The machine only has 5 programmes (soak, light, eco, normal and intensive). When the cycle stops I can push and hold the program but and it advances to the end of the program, I then put it on soak which rinses the dishes. Therefore, I know that it can empty and I believe that it must be a software problem.

tks
