SMEG P752 wiring, 3 plates not working

I've just bought a P752 and wired as shown in the diagram for a 220-240v supply but only 2 of the 5 plates are working.

The connection diagram looks like the following

1 2 3 4 Earth
o---o o---o
L1 N1

I have the wiring going into 1, 4 and earth. The 3 to 4 neutral has a piece of metal under it acting as a bridge. Have any of you had any experience of this and can help?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

1 and 2 should be linked.

Thank you very much for your help.. the hob now works but one of the plates is misaligned !! the heating element is not underneath one of the white circles!!

If it's a halogen hob then you need to split the top from the bottom to be able to line up the halogens.
