Hi,

Due to some local arson attacks, been ordered up upgrade the smoke/ fire detection, particularly to the fully enclosed porch which has the letterbox only on its outer door.

We have a HW Accenta alarm but its fitted with 2 additional alarm sounder/speakers around the house which really do wake the dead, many times louder than the standard household fire alarm detector.

Because of those sounders it would seem ok to add a smoke detector to the Accentra rather than using the mains fire alarm systems.

Have seen the Texecom Exodus AGB-0001 OH4W unit, is this good or is there something better ?

Also wondered if the Exodus is suitable for use in an external garage actually used for a car (!) which does mean it can be a damp area in winter.

thanks.

Yes, it might come to that ! :)

.. but the main concern is that the mainly wooden porch could be well alight before any sensors in the hallway would activate or we would hear any such sounds in the bedrooms.

I second the M12 smoke detectors. They are 12v so can easily be added to any alarm system (cable run permitted) and they can be configured to different detection options, smoke, heat etc... making them suitable for most locations and the price is pretty cheap too from multiple vendors.
