Could someone please help. I have a large bathroom, one half of the room contains the shower and wc etc., the other side has cupboards and a dressing table, can I get a double socket installed in the 'dressing room' half. It is the same room, but is it like putting a socket in a bathroom?!! What are the regs on this (it could go in the cupboard if it helps)

It needs to be 3m from the shower door opening. See the wiki.

3M horizontally from the boundary of zone 1, which is the area inside the shower or bath..

What did you want to use the 240v source for ?

If you haven't got 3m+ from zone 1 then you could consider suitable IP rated kit such as bathroom hairdriers etc

Yes, for hairdryer etc. the table will be 3.75 m away so 240V source should be fine. The kit is a good idea though

Valid reasons for hard wiring to a fused spur is that nothing could be changed.

No change means there's no chance that some numpty could plug a long lead in to the socket and put it adjacent to the bath (such as a heater in winter). Thus avoiding the puddle beside it from splashing and the prospect of death when the bath user gets out and stands in the puddle that is live due to the appliance sitting in the puddle.

3m maybe the regs, but caution and due respect for juice in bathrooms- full stop.
