Socket in bathroom??!

Was chatting to a wholesaler yesterday and he mentioned the new 16th edition regs state you can now have a socket in the bathroom so long as it's 3m away fro source of water? Is this correct? Thanks

The old 16th do not allow, the new 17th does.

3m, must be RCD protected (as do all sockets).

No .

What is the source of the water - a well in the back garden perhaps?

It is 3m from the boundary of zone 1 - so either end of the bath - not just where the taps are .

At last, some common sense. We have recently moved from Scotland to Australia and appreciate the benefit of a powerpoint in the bathroom. Here, the outlet is only 500mm away from the basin which might be considered a bit close, but with some common sense on its position, this must be a sensible step forward.
