Thanks, I didn't know that. Before I used the Osmo Oil I emailed the manufacturer and mentioned the intended use and they said it would be fine ........ but I guess not.

That said they have a range of coloured exterior oils which do not say vertical only.

Other timbers you could use outdoors are "greenheart" and "Purple Jarrah", but you would need carbide tools to cut or trim them.
