Softwood stud partition timber, I had it covered but it got wet inthe last two days rain (London).

I've brought it indoors, now it's not soaked, will a few days indoors dry it out do you think?

Greetings.

dont dry it too quick
assuming you have room separate each plank [i assume 3x2"] say 5mm from the next in all direction with batons every 550- 650mm
ideally leave for a few weeks more iff you can

Thanks again Big-all (you answered a previous post of mine). I have separated them similar to your advice, but a few WEEKS? I want to get on with my
shed, will a preserver or something else help,or will I merely be trapping water in there?

Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Alan

its purely shrinkage [only across the grain]off perhaps 2-5% on damp wood perhaps 6-10% on wet up to perhaps 20% fully saturate
how long was your wood exposed and what volume off water
its things like noggins that you bang in solid and tight can finish up looses
do you have any dry offcuts from the same batch??

Two days on and off North London rain.

Volume? Goodness how would I know though I have a feeling that not much got in.

do you have any dry offcuts off the timber from that batch
or long bits on a plank that didnt get wet
you probably in the low range if just 2 days so perhaps 2mm on 69mm and 1mm on 44mm
or what ever size you have (y)
