Soil pipe cap needed - not sure what type.

Hi All
Looking for some advice. After noticing that our ceiling and walls were start to show signs of a leak I took some of the ceiling out and found that a cap/bung in the main internal soil stack has disappeared.

I can't locate the original and cannot work out what type of cap to get for this. Please could somebody advise?

The pictures show the soil stack from many years ago during bathroom fitting and the situation now.

Ok - that's a strap on boss, looks like someone had a boss adapter in there with a grey blank into that, if its now missing chances are someone forgot to glue it and it's been blown out.

All you can really do is replicate that, get a solvent weld 40mm boss adapter glue that in and then a 40mm blank to fit that. You can get rubber ones and solvent weld ones, I'd go with the latter as once it's glued then it should be as good as permanent.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I've found a solvent weld 40mm boss adapter but the pictures on BandQ and Toolstation show 32mm printed on it. I assume I'm searching for the wrong thing becuase when I then search for solvent weld 32mm blank, all i can find are access plugs.

Not sure I ever want to access it once I've put it in and repaired the ceiling!

Is it not better to remove it if you have that access? If not try searching for blanking plug

Hi @CountryFan , the pictures might be a bit deceiving. The first picture is from years ago. The soil stack picture is by poking my phone through the ceiling. The hole is now just below the floorboards so not sure I had any room to work with.

Maybe try what I suggested earlier then? 40mm blanking plug or drain bung.

@Madrab, that's what I'm planning on doing but I just can't find a solvent weld blanking plug. Is there any chance you could point me in the right direction off where I could get one please.
