Soil pipe help, Cast to Plastic

Hello,

Could anyone advise me on the size of standard cast soil pipes, house is 1963, I need to cut the pipe and join it with a plastic one, this is just the vent part above all the waste.

are plastic fittings readily available to convert these? I have even seen flexi pipes used before, is this allowed?

Cast iron soil stacks are usually 4", though occasionally 3 1/2" was used.
Adaptors like the universal adaptor here

will fit between the cast and plastic.
