Solar PV Question

Hi All,

Anyone here have much experience with solar PV? I am in the process of buying a property in Portugal and plan to install a large PV system. I was trying to work out sizing of inverters etc. E.g. 8Kw etc... As far as I can see the KW rating is for the DC side and not the 240AC is this correct.

Answering my own question, think I found something,

(Daily kWh ÷ average sun hours) x 1.15 efficiency factor = DC solar system size

For my Solaredge inverter the range is rated by AC output not input. You wouldnt rate by input as normally you provide 1.2x to 2x of panel wattage to inverter wattage dependant on panel orientation and local conditions.

1.15 sounds ok for an unshaded south facing roof but if you go east/west and have chimneys and trees you would go a lot higher.
