I was sitting in a cafe , gazing out of the window when a van turned up a couple of chaps got out with a small ladder. They lean't the ladder against the wall of the small cottage opposite, one climbed it and measure up the width of the sill of a small window (30"?).
So far so good, then they extricate some large tower bits and assemble a short tower. The problem now shows, there is a sloping concrete pavement of differing heights under all four feet of the tower. As these guys can't afford adjustable feet for the tower, they have a cunning plan. So out comes a pile of 1/2" offcuts. Sort of a dozen under one foot, 8? under another. Ah, run out of bits of wood. This time its a bit of limestone roof slate, put on edge of kerb, whack it with a hammer, put bits of that under the pile of wood. Now run out of stone, tower still leaning. I finish my breakfast and leave.
I wonder what their workmanship is like?
