phoned the "office"...who phoned engineer.....apparently he's gone to buy more parts "and will endeavour to fix it soon"

heating is back on now.....but only a temporary fix....my diverter valve (?) needs replacing..."how long before you can do that for me?"...."i dunno luv....how longs a piece of string?"...
i now know....a piece of string is 6 days long
heating engineer here at last.....he looks about 12!!...
"how long will it take? i say.....reply, "possibly half an hour, unless it all goes wrong......then it will take longer"

Go easy with that young engineer Di. He'll need to keep his mind on the job! Else, he'll be all fingers and thumbs.
Don't think the Melody is the right choice of transport for the journey. Had to turn back for my snow chains when I hit Bury.
