Hi,

Recently dug up our old patios as it was above the damp proof course -previous owner :( Anyway I have some questions I hope some one could help me on

1) I have a bunch of existing paving stones that are in good condition but it looks likely I will have to cut some of them and they are 4cm thick. What hire tool is best for this - angle grinder, etc?

2) I will set the new patio to be 6" below the damp proof course and slope it away from the house at 2inch fall over 8 foot. This will mean the lawn will be a few inches higher. Whats the best way to seperate the lawn from the patio and incorporate a drainage channel with adequate collection pit/soak-away. Just point me to a picture or webpage

3) I have dug the hole now and I intend to lay the hardcore at about 4 " deep and then use a wacca plate to compact. To make this base level do I simply buy some sharp sand to fillin the gaps

Thats enough questions for now. Thanks in advance of any tips/thoughts

Ive just re-layed my patio too. I used a grinder with a 9" disk to cut the slabs. Ive used gravel to act as drainage off my patio nad also to hide the giscrepancy in slope from patio to concrete (grass in your case). Dont know if this will help, but hope it does. :)
