I have to access the ends of 3 self-tappers 1 foot down a 6" internal dia flue pipe, to grind them out.... while balancing like a ballerina on my roof ridge tiles.
I`ve removed clag/tar but my £80 new in 1984 Bosch 4" grinder & the slitting discs I`ve used since I retired the hacksaw, is not a safe bet. Can`t use a drift & hammer either, pot`s too fragile.
I can`t work over the pot. There is so much weight, 20ft of clagged-up pipe, I can`t lift from the top, or jack up from the bottom(I tried), the flexi liner to get the cowling & sleeve above pot lip height to access the screws to undo, so have to grind them out internally to allow the liner to drop down into my room. I could grind the top of the cowl off, but I`d prefer not to. No welding gear anymore.

Can anyone suggest a cheap bit of kit that has one foot reach & grinding capability for confined pipe internal?
Thanks

I have just today bought one of these from TEMU (local delivery 3 days) for less than £16 but did look at Ebay at £4-6 more. Pipe at 6" diameter you should be able to get your hand down far enough & use a head torch to see?

Cheers Bear2Biker! That sounds just what I need, TEMU to the rescue....my neighbour swears by them(while with eBay, I swear at them!).

I don't think safe and cheap will go together for that job. What value do you put on your life. Perhaps at least a cat-ladder, but preferably scaffolding will at least make it a bit better.

The above grinder with the right disc on it should do, I have one (from Lidl) that is similar.
Perhaps gaffa tape it to a length of wood and also have a rope attached to it in case you drop it.

Appreciate the comments. Luckily heights don`t bother me, worked on the QE2 bridge at Dartford before they put sides on it.
From the flat roof up to the apex, I have a ladder with the hooks over the ridge tiles. I tied a 56lb weight to the bottom of the ladder. If I fall, I aim to land on the flat roof, unlike the previous occupant who somehow hobbled away from falling the other side onto the ground

As per B2B, I`m just waiting for the tools to arrive, also ordered the mini slitting discs fit for cutting Stainless. Not too bothered about a little damage to the top of this old liner. Got fifty quid for the last one I removed....but this one has a ton of clag that a chimney brush wouldn`t touch. I even lost a brush head up there & had to borrow an endoscope & make a tool to extract. The old pipe will exit this property via the next room....the kitchen window.

Win or fail(but not fall), I`ll report back.

My two penneth is flexible drill shaft cable, with the cable, cable tied to a bit of 1” x 1/2 “ and a course grind wheel adaptor in the chuck of the cable drive. I’m guessing using the fastest drill you can turn it with, although the wheel might dance around a bit while it’s grinding those self-tappers. I’ve done similar stuff before but this is the sort of job where I’d rather boil my eyeballs than have to sort it out. I sincerely wish you the best of luck mate. As you said, let us know how you did.
