HI new member here and need some help urgently
About 3 months ago I had some of my sockets ( on a seperate ring I think ) trip the rcb out on the consumer unit.I checked all the sockets and they were ok as if by magic a few hours later they all started working again ! I put it down to a dodgy socket outside in my greenhouse.
Well the same problem has happened again but this time the sockets havnt come back on. I have had every socket connected to this ring ( I have some working on a seperate ring ie kitchen conservatory ) but the rest of the house and outside are dead. There is four wires leading into the tripped rcb two are taped together I presume these are a ring if I put these two only into the rcd it doesnt trip but the sockets dont work so I then put one of the other two wire into the rcb and it didnt trip ( still no sockets working ) I then placed the last wire back into the rcd with the rest and it tripped I have traced this wire to a socket in the garage so I disconected this one but still no sockets but the rcd doesnt trip. Im at a loss now and to be honest I havnt got the money to get a sparky in is the wire I have disconected part of the ring ? Any suggestions please get back to me the Mrs is doing her crust as we have extension leads leading from the kitchen to most rooms in the house !
