Sound-reducing pb or double layer ordinary pb ?

I really dislike hearing noise ( from adjacent bathroom) in my bedroom and wonder which of the above is the better solution.

Would be grateful to hear from anybody with experience.

Also just how effective is the sound-absorbing material produced by people like Rockwool ? I've seen what they claim in reduced dB but now need to look up what it means !

Rockwool is very good at reducing sound, but is not a miracle cure.

Soundcheck plasterboard or two layers of normal board will be of more use in the adjacent room to stop sound getting out, rather than in a room trying to stop sound coming in.

But incorporating both these will reduce sound, but perhaps not as much as is often expected
