Did you turn machine over onto its side - the air filterside? If so then the engine oil has ran from the crankcase into the air filter via the crankcase breather. Buy a new air filter (paper 'cartridge') and fit that.
Take the plug out before you try to start the engine and pull the cord a few times to make sure you do not get a 'Hydraulic Lock'.
If it came out of the air filter without laying the machine over then I guess it's FUBBed...
