Wall is matt white and would like to paint it dark blue (emulsion matt)

Is it recommended that I use a dark primer first? water based?

Or can I just give it two coats of the dark blue paint and job done?

Might need three coats.
I only use coloured primer if using durable type emulsions because of how they are made and react but standard dark matt crack on and see if you can do in two

You're right.

I'll do a small sample area to see whether the job can be done in two coats as opposed to three.

Cheers
