Speed fit elbow & stem elbow

hi,
I've got a tight spot to fit a radiator.
Am I right that the male end of a stem elbow can simply be put directly into the female end of an elbow?
I know stem elbows can be used directly into rad valves, but are they ok in other speed fit female fittings?
