I have some plumbing to do which I'm going to do in plastic due to accessibility. I've never used plastic pipe before but understand JG Speedfit is one of the better ones.

I'm a bit confused as Screwfix seem to sell three different types of pipe:

and there seems to be two different types of fittings, one in grey and one in white, with slightly different model numbers.

Can anyone help? :)

Speedfit do 2 types of pipe; cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) and polybutylene (PB).

PEX is stiffer and normally used for general plumbing applications and comes in coils (white) or lengths (white or grey), PB is more flexible and normally used for underfloor heating and comes coiled only (white or grey).

I suggest you compare prices with a local plumbers merchant before going to Screwfix. I recently bought some 28mm copper pipe and saved over £5 per length by going to a plumbers merchant in Nuneaton.

Pex is used a lot for underfloor heating. Uponor and Rehau to name but two big suppliers.
