Spirit level problem

Since it's Friday... I was remodelling my fireplace last week and uncovered a cracking piece of brickwork:



Its job it to support the end of a 500mm angle iron lintel that's supporting ~15 bricks above the stove. It's clearly functioning well enough....

I think it's called jumble step bond!

There must have been something pretty fruity involved. I reckon your average 12 year old could do better than that.
