Hi all

Purchasing a sem-detached house that had a double storey side extension put on in the 70s (flat roof - which will be dealt with in a year or so), and had a right hand quarter turn winding staircase orginally, to which they have cut into for the new opening (picture linked below).

Would it be possible to remove the entire case and replace it with one that has a flat square landing at the top, and then a step or two to go right?

Seems dangerous as it stands at the moment

I have linked a picture to how I would want the stairs

Thanks in advance

No.
Stairs are built to strict dimensions, and, presumably, your stairs originally passed BCO?

Too many variables, and not enough info from the pics, plus the pics distort the angles and steepness of the rise and run ratios.

Actually, you can do more or less anything in the residential building trades if you are willing to pay for it. But, at first glance, your proposition doesn't seem feasible.

Perhaps a returning handrail on the wall with pictures might help? But, then again, it might squeeze the width of the passage?

This is really a case for a time consuming visit by a local joiner, who would be able to give you a better opinion.

I’ve seen that kind of set-up plenty of times, don’t know why you would think it was particularly dangerous.
