I have built a lounge extension to my bungalow, and would like to install 6 nos recessed spot lights. After the ceiling is up there will be no access above the gyproc ceiling. When I install the fittings (240v 35watt) is there a regulation to put fireproof covers on them, and can I connect the 1.5mm Twin & earth loops direct into the connector on the fitting,or do I need to use a connector box and flex. Any comments appreciated

I always terminate into a small 20A 4 terminal junction box then to the downlight with a piece of 1.5mm heat resistant flex.
I personally don't think you'll need fire resistant fittings or smoke hoods but best to check with your LABC as they always have other ideas.

Since using JCC fire rated downlights I wouldn't use any others, even for applications where fire barriers haven't been breeched or for acoustics.

Thanks for the advice, Appreciated

Good advice use the site pack ones from IBL, already pre - wired just terminate your t & e to the loop in terminals into the reliable transformer, no problems

dont go for cheap crap when you can get a good one for a quid more
