spotlghts up stairs ? like in pic. is it a big job, the electrician who has done work for me before eg light fittings in ceilings is in his 70s. semi retired ..(hard to get hold of also) dont want to put a big job on him and don't really want to pay for an expensive big job.. any help would be good thanks .... hall is getting plastered in a week so need to know whether to get lights fitted first or will it not matter.

Doing a job like that is a real PITA. Easiest to do it before the stairs go in.
Absolutely you must have the wiring etc done BEFORE the plastering!

An easy enough job if your stair wall backs onto the garage.
Usually a brick wall, or at least a fire barrier, so not so easy IMO.

@jacquelina - may not be so hard if its a stud/plasterboard wall. It really needs you tame spark to look at it and give you their opinion. In any case, you need to thiunk about where you would switch the light from.

MEMO: electrics and other services first. plastering last.

hi guy many thanks for replies .. its a brick wall, exterior wall so a load of messing really, in the time that i have, i will leave the lights.

haha thats what we do now but its a cheap eco bulb at the mo, am getting really fancy light fitting with lots halogen bulbs more for show ... so .... us women do like to make things complicated :D
