Hi all
I recently bought a compressor to try out spray painting of some furniture I was building. I bought a SEALEY SAC05030:
http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?id=20&method=mViewProduct&productid=14324

Air Displacement cfm(ltr/min): 12.6(356)
Maximum Free Air Delivery cfm(ltr/min): 8.75(248)
Maximum Pressure: 130psi/9bar
Receiver Capacity: 50ltr

and a spray gun from screwfix:
http://www.screwfix.com/p/gravity-feed-spray-gun-600ml/21063
Average air consumption 12.5cfm.

The problem I have is that painting is SLOW.

If I look at this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi47j-t-HZ4
by comparison the amount of paint my spray gun delivers per second is about 1/20th of what you see at about 1:15.

I am using Johnsons MDF Primer:
http://www.johnstonestrade.com/product-range/product.aspx?product=MDF_Primer
and diluting it by about 10% with water.

So questions:
1. Is the gun I have bought an HVLP gun? I can't see it mentioned anywhere. How can I tell?
2. What else can be causing my slow delivery speed? It has been doing this ever since I bought the gun so I don't think it is blocked. I have tried reducing the pressure delivered by the compressor to no avail.
3. Could the tip size be too small? It is 1.2mm which seems to be on the small size.

Any help gratefully received!
Kevin

What do you thin the paint with? How do you clean your gun afterwards?

Hi, I thin with water, and I clean with water afterwards using an abrasive pad and the hose pipe to flush all the paint out.
