I have just bought 2 of these wastes and neither seem to operate very well, are they rubbish or do they need water in them to cause some sort of hydraulic action[ Have not fitted them, just tried them straight out of the packet]

What wastes - spring loaded doesn't mean anything to me? Can you identify maker or supplier, give web site link or post picture?

Thanks Softus, I assume that was a very long winded way to say that you think that they "are" rubbish.

For me that was short-winded! However, it was oblique, so I'll recap in more detail:

I have some experience of these wastes, and it strikes me that they're far too complicated for what is a very simple function. Don't even get me started on pop-up wastes....

If you want something that doesn't have a chain, and isn't a pop-up, then for only a little more expense I can recommend a type that is elegant in looks and in construction. If interested then let me know and I'll dig out the company name.

And as for Screwfix? Hmm. Best not go there, both in the legal sense and as a customer. Oh alright then. Allegedly, many consider it to be nothing more than a shed that sells shoddy shed-type things cheaply, and then makes it inconvenient and expensive to return faulty goods. If you want to run down the business of your local merchants such that they might not be there when you really need them to be, continue using the Internet for procuring plumbing fittings.

Hi Softus,
Yes I would like to avoid a chain and my next thoughts would have been pop ups, but I take it you do not consider these to be up to much either, I would therefore appreciate details of your alternative.
Thanks for your help.

Luvverely, innit!

I'm still looking for details of the real supplier, from whom you'll get a better price than elsewhere.

Nice one Chris.

I'd be interested to know if the one that Screwfix sells is just as good quality as the one that I installed recently

Nah - who am I kidding - I know that it isn't :(
