stainless steel electric hob

help required if you can.? ive just fitted my new electric hob 'when it is on it gets very hot around outside edges,also smoke comming from it,is this safe to use.all the stainless steel gets very hot ,is this normal or is it that am just a bit paranoid.also steel seems to discolour to a bronse colour

Switch it off, check the connections are done properly. If they are then you should get t replaced under warranty.
Dont use it.
If its smoking then you could get a fire to deal with.

I had a call to a customer who thought he was getting a 'tingle' of some metal hall light switches "because they were new." Actually, it was because the earth ('cpc') wasn't connected and the live (phase) was touching the plate. I fixed it on the spot and told him he was lucky he or his kids hadn't been killed switching on the light when they walked in from the rain.
