I decided to clean the grease off of the splash-back behind my stove and I think I've been very silly ! I used a warm washing up liquid/water solution and scrubbed with a plastic scourer. Now I've got a grey streaky residue or stains which I can't remove by just wiping with either a damp or dry cloth.
Have I ruined it for ever ?
Can anyone out there please advise me how to recover from this ?

Thanks

Try white spirit...

Does not sound like you have removed the grease merely smeared it around?

Thanks for your responses.
White spirit didn't make any difference.
I've tried warm washing up liquid and a cloth which I would have expected to remove any smears but the stains/smears are still there.

Any more thoughts ?
Thanks
