We have just had a stair runner and landing carpet fitted, the carpet fitter has lapped the landing carpet (which is different than the runner) over the top riser, so when you are looking up from the bottom of the stairs you can actually see the landing carpet, it somehow does not look quite right.
Is this the only way that it could of been fitted, or perhaps there is another way.

Regards Alan :(

that is the normal way as normaly the two would be carpeted in the same carpet. When ever I have seen different carpet on stair and landing the landing carpet is always turned over the top nosing.A carpet to runner of the same type would normally be turned down in what is termed as a pair of pants cut.this is where it comes over the top nosing at full width and tapers down to the width of the runner at the bottom of the top riser.
The only way I can see round this would be to cut this shape out of the runner carpet when it was bound and then using some sort of threshold at the top of the stairs top join the two. That in itself would look pretty strange.

Landing carpet would normaly be the same as the stairs it is possible to finish the top step with a single naplock but not usual. If you have put stairrods on and tried to make a feature out of it. That might work.

i guess if they are to overlap, the landing would have overlap the stair, otherwise you might end up with a 'lip' to trip over at the top of the stairs.
