Hello All

I know the building regs dimensions but I don't know how to install new stiles and bannister (hand rail).

Should I buy the ready made that I have seen at Wickes or should I just buy stud timber, cut and use dowel joints, pva and screws?

Please let me have your comments and ideas, I need them.

Nice weekend everyone.

Spindles (I assume autocorrect got you, too) need to be made from something a bit stiffer than whitewood carcassing, such as knot-free joiney grade redwood or hardwood. As aveatry says, buy in, or get a local joinery shop to make some up for you

Use wickes/Homebase/ b and q
When I did mine I saved a significant amount by getting the handrail parts from b and q then spindles from Homebase. Just check that they fit

Richard buridge used to sell a vhs tape demo but it's on YouTube now
I don't know about old v modern building regs but it makes sense to follow up to date rules

It's easier to prime and paint the spindles before you build- even if you need to touch them up
