Standing Voltage

Not sure if any one can help me, studying for my C&G 2391 and have come across the term "Standing voltage" can anyone explain and also what is the electrical test that can give rise to it. I think its a insulation test but not sure any help most gratefully recieved :confused:

I think you're right about the IR test. I could be wrong but I understand Standing Voltage to be the capacitive properties of a cable or installation when a part is untapped, such as unearthed SWA armour or insulation material which breaks down (such as during an IR test). What is the context of the question?

Sorry I havnt answered your replys but Internet at home has been down, and had a nightmare with orange trying to get it up and running again. Im doing this from the local libary its still down.
I havnt got the book with me but will answer you reply asap once im up and running again.
