Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction with a Stanley Brandon (oil, with digital display).

I’ve been having a few issues that seem to have escalated:

  • Initially, the heating was cycling on for about 3 minutes, then off for 3 minutes repeatedly
  • During that time, the radiators were getting very hot very quickly
  • Then I started getting Boiler Limit / Oven Limit warnings, followed by Error Code 04 (overheat)
  • Now the system has got worse:
    • It’s not firing at all (no heating or hot water)
    • The clock/display is showing a strange/random time
    • Controls seem a bit off
Things I’ve tried:

  • Turning the system off and back on
  • Resetting where possible
  • Checking thermostat settings
From what I understand, it could be:

  • Boiler thermostat / sensor issue
  • Circulation or heat dissipation problem
  • Or possibly the main PCB / control board (especially due to the weird clock)
Before I go and spend £300–£400 on a new PCB, I just wanted to ask:

Has anyone seen this combination of symptoms before on a Stanley Brandon?
Does this sound like a PCB failure, or something else I should rule out first?

I’m leaning to main PCB Board being the issue, If it this how old is to replace by a old ish IT Hardware Engineer of 30 years

Any advice or things to check would be massively appreciated

I think your money would be better spent employing an experienced technician on this appliance. There are several electrical circuitry checks needed to identify the failed components before purchasing expensive PCB's.
