Now that they are looking at the tax they are paying due to poor sales since it was revealed starbucks are now attacking the staff benefits...so it looks as though the employees will be contibuting towards their tax payments, I personally used to stop in there but after what they are doing to the staff I will be voting with my wallet,,,,going to use the small independant ones

Welcome to reality.

Corporations do not pay tax, they are entities not people.

Corporation tax just means less money for employees, shareholders, and higher prices for goods.

going to use the small independant ones

Because they of course don't pay low wages and give a host of employee benefits.

except if you tax the premier league more it will be all the plebs (admin or whatever) that will see loss before the football "stars".

I'm in favour of slashing corporation tax in half and raising tax on higher earnings and shares (many people pay themselves in shares to avoid NI).

Because they of course don't pay low wages and give a host of employee benefits.

Because they of course don't syphon the revenue from sales through dodgy Swiss supply companies en route to the US. Maybe independents takings stay in the country and just might benefit the local economy.

The staff could join a union

Which union is that Nige? The GMC (General, Municipal and coffee makers)? Or maybe Lech Walesa's Solidarity. The staff in these places always seem to be Polaks anyway. ;)

Starbucks sales got hit quite hard after it was highlighted about their tax ( evasion) and it was shocked into doing something ..it was also on the coupon/groupon websites trying to entice customers.,,and now is doing what it states the "right" thing and paying taxes........after what they are doing to their staff polkas or not they will NOT get a penny off me

Stop being silly.

They are not "dodgy Swiss companies".

They are using the EU tax system as it was designed to be used.

What a daft blog entry that is.

It's like arguing that adults don't pay income tax, it's paid for by their children who get fewer christmas presents.

Economists like to come up with this stuff and most of it is bunkum.

Just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean that is how it works.

oh sure, let's just call it "bunkum", how easy it is then to ignore the issue.

You can google all you like but none of those say corporations don't pay tax.

From the first link

“labor bears a substantial burden from the corporate income tax.”

You either didn't read the links, or don't understand them and the principle of tax incidence.

That's a different argument completely.

Where does it say that corporations don't pay tax?
