I suspect that, if there is any link between educational level and apparent leftiness then that's probably a result of the organised indoctrination that goes on at many universities.
This is it Ivor. Up until the commie wave of the 1960s our universities produced conservative, patriotic people. From the 60s onwards, the products were lefty and unpatriotic. What the pre- and post-1960s students had in common was not necessarily intelligence, but rich mummys and daddys!
Intelligent people, university educated or not, are inclined to go against the prevailing orthodoxies of the time, or at least question them.
A previous manager I had, who recruited me as a graduate, said that at uni you exchange common sense for knowledge. At bachelor degree level the result is normally a reasonable balance, beyond that too much common sense has been traded in.
I've worked with long-term academics, they're often really hard work.
But this was decades ago. Nowadays most courses are just easy mickey mouse nonsense with no employment prospects, where common sense is exchanged for twaddle. With political indoctrination for all but the strong-willed along the way.
Almost anyone can get into uni now. If your parents are funding you then it's just a holiday before having to start work. But sadly many get into debt to study nonsense, the unis are largely scam businesses for many courses now.
