They love a good emergency, they get aroused at the concept of telling people they can't do stuff.

Boris and co seemed to enjoy their bossy lockdown. But labour were demanding even more, it would have been an even bigger economic disaster if labour had been in charge.

It’s easy with the benefit of hindsight to say we over locked down. At the time we didn’t know if it would kill 10% or if we could get an effective vaccine

Don't want to vanish down a rabbit hole but there was lots of evidence available at the start that said that it was of little risk to anyone under 50, and highly related to overall health.

Anyone suggesting anything other than the government line was silenced and ridiculed. Lots of harm was done by it. It was a really bad episode in our history.

I doubt that any future (necessary) lockdown will be effective, as the govt cried wolf last time so people just won't take it seriously.
