I've often wondered if there is any reason why you couldn't discard the big torroidal transformer supplied with these kits, and replace it with a much smaller electronic unit with the same rating?
Am I missing something obvious here? Most electronic TXs are SELV output which should be OK. My only though was if one failed badly and presented 230V onto the bare suspended wires
