Steel frame roof to a gable wall

Hello,

I have just had some right angle metal frames fabricated, 1m high 1m wide which I plan to bolt to the side of my house.

They are much heavier than i anticipated, and in speaking to the fabricator he explained they are as heavy as they need to be and he suggested using:

Thunderbolt - 8mm bolts, however the size of the pre-drilled holes on the frames/cleats are 10mm.

Is this correct bolt or fixing? or perhaps i need washers as well?

I've yet to a buy a roof but i reckon perspex sheets should be easy enough to fasten down.

Sorry to hear about your roofing woes.

Perspex sheeting is pretty easy to fasten down, you jest need to drill the holes in first; which you will need particular drill bits to achieve. Once you have these you ought to be pretty well set though.

Regarding the angles you had made, do you know what metal they are fabricated from? If you are worried about weight then you should probably go for aluminium angles, as aluminium is rather lightweight, and is also well suited to out door use.
