Does anyone know if its possible to have glass fitted to a steel panelled door like the one below. Our hallway is quite dark and Im wondering if there any companies that specialise in this sort of work, cheers.
Nothing's impossible it generally comes down to a cost situation . I don't know of any firms particulary but you may be able to attempt this yourself , the fact that the door is steel rather than wood is only a case of diferent cutting techniques.
Alternativly it may work out more cost effective to simply replace the door completly.
just be aware though that the face panel is purely decorative you may start cutting and find a structural bar right through where you want the glass to go.
Personally I wouldnt bother. first you have to cut out the panels neatly, then as the door is probably hollow you will need to fill in around the opening ,(how to fix) then glawe and fit some sort of glazing bars to tidy the cut edges.
As Laydlola says nothing is impossible but whether it's worth the time or expense is down to you
Very true about the construction.
I had a customer wanting a cat flap fitting in a plastic door, of course there was metal in there as well and fixing the thing was a fiddly affair involving bits of wood and silicon
