Hi

The stopcock inside my house leaks when fully open, so I have it about 3/4's open at the moment (at a guess - could even be 50%) and its not leaking.

I understand the gland needs repacking with ptfe, and I *think* this can be done with the water main live is that right?

Nervous about doing it obviously, just wondering if there are any tips - soak in antiseize over night? Locate outside isolator (I don't know where that is at present)?

Thanks

Yes, it can be done live. Back off the hex nut and pack out round the spindle with tape and also use some silicon grease. Retighten the hex nut until the leak stops and the stopcock can be turned. No one can tell you how much to tighten the nut. It is down to "feel".

have you already tried tightening the spindle gland nut a touch?
