Hi,

Our loft contains vermiculite insulation as granuals. I am installing some 100mm LED downlights, and want to avoid the insulation getting right up against them.

I have seen the intumescent covers available, which would do the job fine. However I do not need a fire rating as it's in a bungalow, and just need to prevent insulation getting into direct contact.

Is there a cheaper alternative, such as a plastic box or similar that anyone knows of?

Many thanks!

Thanks guys, soil pipe or plant pot sound like a good idea to me! Will just need to find some shallow ones, so I can still pop the rock wool top up insulation over them. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!
