How easy is it to fit a new storage heater, the one I have is on Economy 7 and I have been offered a second hand one,but will it be compatable ?
Also if I decide to buy new,can I fit it, or could my local electrician do it ?
Are you talking about replacing an old one or having this as an additional one?
AFAIK they are all much the same rating - check the data plates to see what loads your existing one and the new one are.
If it's going to be an extra one you may need a new circuit for it, which is notifiable in England & Wales, as is installing the heater if it's in a kitchen or bath/shower room.
The biggest physical problem is that they are heavy.
Plenty of the older ones also contain not insignificant amounts of asbestos which is easily disturbed if you are taking it apart to remove a few bricks to make it easier to move.
