I've got a somewhat clapped-out Micra that I wish to store for a few months. medium bodywork rust, but reliable & a very handy runabout - I don't want to get rid of it. Trouble is, I haven't got a covered garage to store it in, just a bit of hardstanding. Would it be better to let it 'breathe' in the open air, or should I cover it with a tarp? someone told me that this would encourage corrosion...?

Let it 'breathe'
Just give it a good clean, and a good wax.
If you cover it up it will sweat, and not dry.

Quick Fit

Also put car on blocks if you can. Tyres can suffer when they are left on a car that is not moving, they can get lumpy spots and bulges.

Yes tarps can do more harm than good. When the wind flaps the material about it rubs the paint off the edges of body panels.
