Straight swap on these sockets?

I currently have plastic faceplates/sockets in my kitchen

I am wanting to put some chrome sockets in, as below pic

Would these simply be a straight swap?

Should be fine.

With sockets the only real compatibility concern is the depth of the back box. If you have a very shallow one, some sockets either won’t fit at all or will be a pain to install. The presence of the USB outlets may make it deeper than average.

Light switches have more potential issues when installing metal in place of plastic, because sometimes old lighting circuits had no earth. But socket circuits should always have earths, so the fact that the new socket is metal shouldn’t be a problem.

Yes was just going to say these screwless faceplate sockets can be deep, but as its a kitchen and probably tiled? You will hopefully have the space.

…..And last thing you want is working on it, changing the socket, with the power energised.

Make sure you turn off the electricity before changing the socket.

Ok… the areas that the sockets are is painted. They were only put ina few years ago, but I believe they’re 25mm boxes at minimum…. One way to find out

If your walls are not perfectly flat the screwless faceplates will not fit properly and will look terrible

Those sockets say they are 32mm deep.

Screwless faceplates can be a pain in the arse if your backboxes haven't been tightly cut out. They have a backplate behind them for the face to clip onto, which is invariably smaller than a standard socket faceplate - meaning it often won't bridge the cutout
