If you told us the make and particularly the model then we could make some informed suggestions!

sorry for the delay...still looking for advice..

the boiler is an 'Ideal Classic' which is in good nick according to the guy who serviced it last month...

thanks in advance

not that up on these things....

theres a hot water tank in an airing cupboard on the first floor if thats any help?

How many pipes come off the boiler?

I would still go with the previous suggetion that the CH motorised valve is passing when on HW.

Unless that is it is a gravity HW system in which case it will have 4 pipes coming off the boiler.

cheers....just checked & 2 pipes coming out of the top of the boiler..

any ideas where about the CH motorised valve might be located in the system & how big of a job it would be to fix?

wonder if the value might need freeing up rather than replacing..

thanks again

First place to check would be your airing cupboard, usually next to the HW cylinder.

Often a silver metal 'box' of perhaps a white/beige plastic box.
