I had all the door replaced internally with White Oak ones, all of them except 1 were varnished by the decorator with clear varnish and look great. I decided to do the last one myself without the decorator around but it looks sh*t   and doesnt match the other doors in colour shade.

Whats the best way to strip the door back, should I use varnish / paint stripper first and then sand down ? What do you recommend on the sanding, coarse to fine ? I had a go on abit of the door with varnish / paint remover and just fine sandpaper and its takes off the varnish but it the wood still looks to be a darker than it should.

Cheers
